Five days between mountains and the vines.

Georgia was one of those places that kept coming up in conversation until we finally stopped ignoring it. It has everything we look for in a trip: a city with personality, incredible mountains, and a food and wine culture that feel traditional. Tbilisi itself is such a cool city: the sulfur baths, the old town, the wine bars that somehow feel both ancient and completely current. It's the kind of place you land in at 6am and immediately feel like you made a good decision.

From there we drive north into the Caucasus to Kazbegi, which is genuinely a landscape that is one of a kind. Two days in the mountains, proper hiking, and the kind of remoteness that's hard to come by.

Then east to Kakheti: Georgia's wine country, where natural wine isn't a trend, it's just how it's always been done (for 8,000 years!). We'll visit the vineyards, eat too much, and take our time getting back to Tbilisi for the flight home.

It's a trip we've been wanting to do for a while. We're glad you're coming. This trip is for you if you enjoy hiking and spending full days in the mountains; you are curious to learn about other cultures and have local experiences; you are comfortable staying in shared accommodation; and you are ready to stay active.

Brought to you by an exciting collaboration

Highlights

Every trip has a handful of moments that end up defining it. These are the ones we've built the itinerary around — the places, experiences, and in-between bits that tend to stay with you.

Exploring the fun city of Tbilisi

Our first day will be spent getting to know Georgia's capital city, Tbilisi. Known for its distinct blend of architectural styles, natural thermal sulphur baths, and hearty, flavorful cuisine. Tbilisi literally translates to "warm place" in Georgian, named after the area's natural hot springs.

Hiking in the Greater Caucasus

Over two guided days, we'll explore the mountains around Kazbegi on foot. The first day takes us to Gergeti Trinity Church, a steep climb with the whole Caucasus range opening up behind us. The second pushes further into the Truso Valley, past mineral springs and waterfalls, with the kind of stillness that's hard to find anywhere else. Both days are guided by a local mountain operator and suited to most fitness levels.

Winery visit in Kakheti

We'll spend the day in Georgia's oldest wine region, visiting a family-run vineyard in the Alazani Valley. There, we'll learn the traditional qvevri method — wine fermented in clay vessels buried underground, a practice going back eight thousand years. The visit ends with a proper tasting and a long, unhurried lunch.

Each stay is chosen for the same reasons: location, character, and how well it fits the rhythm of the trip. We book as a group, so you arrive knowing where you're sleeping and who you're sharing it with.
